Robo Punter Review 2026: Horse Racing Betting Bot

I’m Stephane. I run BotBlog. Search horse racing betting bot and you mostly get Windows installers, tipster shops, or “systems” with no losing months. Robo Punter is trying something narrower: a web-based Betfair horse racing bot that keeps every rule readable, replays the idea on recorded races, then lets you turn the same rules live on your exchange account.

That is a good fit for this site — if the product does what the shop window says. It is also a new website. There is almost no independent coverage yet. First-mover reviews are useful for readers and for search; they are also easy to inflate. This page stays on what is documented, what is still unproven, and who should skip it.

A personal note: the browser look, and why it is not Geeks Toy

I created a free Robo Punter account and I will put it through a proper test — builder, recorded-race backtest, then research-size rules if the numbers survive. This section is the part I can already say without pretending I have a live P/L.

It is good to see a well-designed, browser-based racing bot. The well-known clients — Bet Angel, Geeks Toy — still earn their keep for ladders and Guardian-style automation. They also look like Windows software from another decade, because that is what they are. You install them, you leave a PC or a VPS running, and you live inside a dense desktop layout. Fine if you already think in ticks. Not fine if you wanted to open a tab and read a race card.

Robo Punter is the other shape. I like the look of it. More important: it is not a generic sports trading tool with a horse-racing dropdown bolted on. It is a dedicated horse (and, on higher plans, greyhound) system — form filters, Smart Form, recorded races, then a bot that runs the same rules. That is closer to how I actually think about racing than another multi-sport terminal.

The two tools are not the same. Ask Bob is SP-based research on RacingFormBook, not Betfair fills. Robo Punter’s replay is their own recorded-race engine, wired to a live executor if you later connect your exchange account. I would still run a horse idea through Ask Bob first, then rebuild the same idea — not a copied filter list — in Robo Punter and see whether their backtest agrees. If they disagree, believe the more pessimistic one.

What is Robo Punter?

Robo Punter (robopunter.io) is a racing analysis and automation platform for horse racing and, on higher plans, greyhounds. You inspect live race cards, apply form and market filters, build a rule-based bot, backtest those rules on recorded race data, and — only if you choose — connect Betfair so the executor can place matching bets.

It is not a tipster. It is not a desktop ladder. It is not BF Bot Manager with a new coat of paint. The useful sentence is: turn a race-day angle into a bot you can explain, then see the risk before you enable it.

Their own getting-started path is short, and it matches how a cautious punter should behave:

1. Open the first three races of any meeting — no account.
2. Create a Free account for full race cards, one bot and one daily backtest.
3. Replay the rules and inspect strike rate, ROI, drawdown and the individual bets.
4. Authorise your own Betfair account only when you decide to go live.

Horse racing betting bot: how the rules actually fire

A Betfair horse racing bot is only as honest as the filters you can see. Robo Punter’s builder is the product: country, race and runner filters, order type, staking plan and exposure controls. Before each race the bot checks live market and race data, applies every rule, and acts only when a runner qualifies. A bot can stay in draft, sit paused, or be switched live.

Documented execution options as at 20 September 2026:

Pause does not delete the bot. Filters, staking and previous backtests stay put. That is the right default: most “I wrecked my system” stories start with someone editing live rules mid-drawdown.

Horse racing backtesting on recorded races

This is the feature that makes Robo Punter worth a review instead of a bookmark. A lot of Betfair automation software can fire rules. Far fewer let you replay the same rules on recorded races and then read strike rate, drawdown, streaks, ROI and the full equity path — without placing a live bet.

Market Feeder Pro’s Time Machine is the old-school version of this idea, and you pay extra for historical meetings. BF Bot Manager’s Simulation mode paper-trades live prices, which is a different (also useful) test. Robo Punter’s replay is aimed at racing form rules over a dated sample. Ask Bob on this site is another historical check, but it is not wired into a live racing executor.

Their own support copy is unusually adult about the limits. I will repeat it in plain English:

• No live bet is placed during a backtest.
• A good backtest does not guarantee a profitable bot.
• The engine cannot perfectly recreate matching, available liquidity, queue position, network delays or every fast market.
• Treat the report as evidence for or against an idea — not a promise.

Plan caps on history, as listed:

Portfolio Backtest (Premium) replays several bots on one shared bank so overlapping runners and combined drawdown show up. Isolated bot curves hide that. If you ever pay for the top tier, this is the tool I would actually use — not the AI headline.

Smart Form, discrepancy and where the data comes from

Live odds, market state, starting prices and exchange results come from Betfair. Race fields and form come from The Racing API. Coverage varies by country. Late corrections happen. That is normal for racing feeds; it is also why you do not blindly enable a bot on a card that just lost two runners.

The published form score combines 14 weighted measures: recent finishes, track / distance / going, class, speed, jockey or trainer, settling, and other form evidence. Scores are normalised inside the race, leader at 10. You can look at the last 5, 10 or 15 starts.

Smart Form flags patterns — clear top rating, last-start win, improving form, track or distance strength, class movement, gear changes, longshot shapes. They list 18 signal types across plan tiers (6 on Free, 10 Starter, 14 Pro, all on Premium), with sport-aware logic for horses and greyhounds.

Discrepancy is their value read: form versus the current market. Useful as a filter. Dangerous as a religion. Markets are often right; “undervalued” is a hypothesis you still have to backtest and then live-test at research size.

AI betting bot? What Agent Access actually does

Premium advertises AI Agent Access for ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients. This is the novelty keyword — and the part most review pages will copy-paste without the safety line.

The safety line is the only reason I am comfortable mentioning it: an agent cannot activate a bot or place a bet. New bots start paused. Live bots must be paused before an agent can edit them. Only you switch a bot live on robopunter.io. Tool calls are scoped to your account and logged under Settings → Agent Access. Tokens are revocable.

What an agent can do: check plan limits, list your bots, research recorded data, run the canonical backtester, inspect results, and prepare paused bots. That is a research desk, not an autopilot punter. If a vendor ever ships “the AI places the bets”, walk away.

Robo Punter pricing (20 September 2026)

Prices below are copied from the public pricing cards. They are shown as $ on robopunter.io. The company talks about AUD on the affiliate side, so confirm the billing currency at Stripe checkout before you treat $29.95 as “about £22”. Monthly, cancel any time. No card for Free.

Pro is marked “Most useful” on their site. That is the honest tier if greyhounds or a small portfolio matter. Premium is a lot of money for a new product — pay it for portfolio replay and MCP, not because an AI logo appeared on a landing page.

Change or cancel via Settings → Plan → Manage Billing (Stripe). Their friend-referral deal (free Premium while five referred friends stay on paid plans) is separate from the publisher affiliate programme and does not change this review.

Robo Punter vs BF Bot Manager vs Market Feeder Pro

This is the comparison that will decide whether the page ranks for betfair horse racing bot as well as the brand query. Different tools; do not buy two to solve one job.

Pick Robo Punter if your whole process is racing form → filters → backtest → maybe automate, and you do not want to babysit a VPS for the software itself.

Manual ladder? Traderline (free) or Geeks Toy. Those are not substitutes for a racing form bot.

Getting started without lighting money on fire

Do this in order. Skip a step and you are just buying a subscription to click buttons.

1. Read three open race cards on the site with no account. If the form language is not how you already think, stop.
2. Create the Free account. Build one boring bot — favourite in a tight odds band, or a single Smart Form flag you can explain in one sentence.
3. Run the daily backtest. Read drawdown and the losing streak, not the ROI headline.
4. If the sample is tiny, do not “fix” the rules until you have more tests. Overfitting is the default failure mode of racing bots.
5. Connect Betfair only after you can describe the worst historical hole in units you actually tolerate.
6. Enable the bot at research size. Pause on the first surprise. Their audit trail is the point of the product — use it.

If you would rather sanity-check a horse idea on this site first, use Ask Bob and the horse racing statistics page. Those are not Robo Punter, and they will not reproduce its qualifiers.

Who should use it — and who should skip

Use the Free plan if you already think in frozen racing rules, you want a web based Betfair bot rather than another Windows licence, and you will treat backtests as a reject button.

Pay for Pro if greyhounds (AU/GB) or more than three live bots are the actual job, and the first-month Pro offer still looks sane at checkout.

Skip Robo Punter if you wanted Lay the Draw, in-play football or tennis; if you wanted a ladder; if you needed Matchbook or Betdaq; or if you arrived from a search for a profitable automated horse racing betting system. Software does not supply the edge. A new website with a clean UI does not supply one either.

Skip Premium until you have used Free/Pro enough to know you need portfolio replay or MCP. Do not buy AI access to avoid learning your own filters.

What this review is allowed to claim

Supported: the public product is a racing-specialist Betfair automation app with a free tier, documented market coverage, a recorded-race backtester, and a written “no, we do not hold your money / no, a backtest is not a guarantee” stance. The getting-started sequence is the right sequence. Affiliate terms exist; they are not a reason to trust the bots.

Not supported: that Robo Punter is currently a production edge. That we have verified live fills or their form scores against an independent book. That MCP will find you a system. That $79.95/month is “cheap if it works”.

The usual caveats still apply, and they are not small. Racing results cluster by meeting. Segmenting a huge runner population will manufacture pretty cells. Markets move. Recorded history is not the next wet Wednesday at Wolverhampton. If you scale a backtest ROI into a wage, you are answering a marketing question with a research series.

Independent verdict

As a new racing bot website: unusually clear about money, backtest limits and AI permissions. That is rarer than a pretty landing page.

As a horse racing betting bot you could treat as proven: not yet. Too new, no public live series we can chart. I have an account and will test it properly; that is not the same as a live bankroll through the executor.

As a product we will send racing readers to: start free, stay on recorded races until the drawdown number scares you the correct amount, then decide. If your process is multi-sport automation, BF Bot Manager remains the BotBlog default.
